Additionally, above is a series of links that will guide players to their favored aspects of playing BattleTech/MechWarrior. This “portal” site is the central hub for all things BattleTech, including posting all relevant news items. These dynamics have spawned a host games, novels, toys and more. For almost three decades, the collision of interstellar politics and war has rewarded fans with amazingly detailed fiction, captivating characters and fantastic adventure. As such, do not bring up other stories, even Battletech, Cthulhutech, or Battletech/Cthulhutech stories, in this thread.Since its beginnings as the BattleTech boardgame, the BattleTech/MechWarrior universe has captivated millions of fans worldwide. Not helped by the fact that most members cannot keep those references ontopic when brought up. Any and all discussion about other unrelated stories (some examples being things like "Iron Blooded Commander", "Mythos Effect", etc.) to this one is BY NATURE offtopic. The last thing to keep track of are what is posted in the threadbanners and any and all staff posts made in the thread. Role-playing is always considered off-topic for threads in CrW (that sort of behavior belongs in RP&Q where it can be considered on-topic). Posts that are 'reactionary' and consist only of images or video responses are both off-topic and considered rulebreaking chan-posting/spam. Something a person drew for THIS STORY may be considered on-topic, but fanart someone drew for the Cthulhutech or Battletech series is usually not considered on-topic by itself. Constructive Criticism posts (explaining why something didn't 'work' or could have been done better) are on-topic. Analysis posts that go over in-story events are on-topic. An example would be a post talking about the Shoggoths or Magic by itself would be off-topic, but that same post then having things tie into what the characters are doing in-story (such as a hypothetical attempt to make a Shoggoth via MAGIC!) would then make that post become on-topic. That same post however can be made on-topic by adding in something related to in-story events (whether they be things that happened in the past chapters, things that may take place in potential future chapters, or things that might have happened had something gone differently). For example, a long series of posts talking about the settings in question in this crossover story (Cthulhutech and Battletech) that don't tie into what is taking place in the story are off-topic. The other big context for what may make a post off-topic is whether or not it relates to the events taking place in the story. Thankfully this is not the case in this thread here, but it is an example of the sort of context where omake discussion can become off-topic while the omake itself would be considered fine and dandy. ![]() An omake that spawns twenty pages of discussion about ONLY the omake is one easy example where the discussions have gone off-topic if it doesn't relate to the events taking place in-story. That said, every now and then exceptions may arise. Omakes, which are essentally fan-written chapters which explore these sort of things, are thus always considered on-topic as well. ![]() Discussions relating to the events that have happened, may happen, or may have happened had something else taken place are always considered on-topic. I am going to copy/paste a standard post that is used when popular threads start becoming offtopic to head off any potential issues. Discussion hasn't fully become offtopic yet, but it's unfortunately headed in that direction. Also, please put any future video links into spoiler boxes. Ladies and gentlemen, a gentle reminder to stay on topic here.
